ACADEMIC ENRICHMENT

 

CLUBS
A variety of extra-curricular activities are offered to complement the academic curriculum including Band, Chorus, Hand Bell Choir, Student Council, Light of Hope Service Group, National Junior Honor Society, yearbook, Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts.

 

 

STUDENT COUNCIL
The SJRCS Student Council’s purpose is to discuss ideas and problems relating to the student body, to encourage high standards of academic achievement among the student body, to assist the administration and faculty whenever possible, and to develop organizational, leadership and citizenship skills among students.


 

NATIONAL JR HONOR SOCIETY
National Junior Honor Society members are chosen for and then expected to continue their exemplary contributions to the school and community. The National Junior Honor Society ranks as one of the oldest and most prestigious national organizations for middle level students. Chapters exist in more than 60 percent of the nation’s middle level schools and, since 1929, millions of students have been selected for membership. NJHS is sponsored by the National Association of Secondary School Principals, which also sponsors the National Honor Society. Members are selected for their academic and leadership abilities and are invited to apply at the end of their 7th grade year.

OUTDOOR CLASSROOM AND LEARNING GARDEN

Environmental education space has been created to host classes outside and includes a student run garden.

 

MEDIA CENTER

In our Library Media Center, students have access to hundreds of books, audio-visual materials, and more.

 

WILDCAT MORNING NEWS ROOM
Wildcat Morning News is a broadcast program run by 7th & 8th grade students under the direction of faculty supervision.  Students have access to the latest production equipment. The entire school watches their broadcast every Friday morning. Students can be the star of the show or look behind the scenes.  

 


FINE ARTS EVENING 

Each spring, the Art Department displays art, made throughout the year, from every student. The students' artwork ranges in medium, but all of the art demonstrates the creativity and skill of students. To conclude Fine Arts Day, we host a performance from the chorus, band, hand bell choir.

 

STEM FAIR

The SJRCS STEM Fair is open to students who have a love for science.


CODING
Coding is offered as after school activities as a STEM enrichment opportunity.
